Father was clear, "Revenge and violence is not God's way." In fact, "God watches very carefully for any feeling of revenge because He hates that attitude." Instead, "Use this negative influence in constructive way.. embrace your opponents.. victory comes by love. That's God's way" TF, God's Way p.170. Such quotes show clearly the difference in attitude which puts us on God's or Satan's side (as Abel or Cain).

According to the Principle:

“God has worked His providence of restoration.. by repeatedly separating those representing Abel from those representing Cain.. This is necessary before we can.. realize the unified world.” DP 353

Members and TC also get divided in the very same way; the Cain-side (centered on fights and resentment) and the Abel-side (centered on true love and service). The first denying TP, while the second one keeping absolute faith, love and obedience.

Cain Side: SC (centered on H2)

- lost faith in TP
- blocking the providence; against Witnessing and Tribal Messiahship
- lost the heart of True Love, overwhelmed in fears and doubts
- disloyal -aggressive; accusing, attacking, using hate speech, gossips
- teach division; against Muslims, against poor refugees, against Father’s organizations

Talking to Sanctuary Church members, they don’t deny this Cain-type traits in their behavior. Instead, they bombard with excuses for such behavior. This way, in the effort to run away from their own conscience, they are devising a new Cain-type ‘anti-unification’ ideology, which barely has anything to do with Father’s Unificationism.

Male Power Vs. Female Heart

TF warned us that this is the "the global era of women" (solving issues with love) vr. Man (solving problems with fight), which is evident in this conflict. Father clearly explained that man (H2 & KJN also) are "unable to bring peace", "stuck in personal interest" and power struggles, so now providence will center on women to bring peace (TM & daughters).  Father's last public declaration was:

"We need to devote ourselves completely.. under the guidance of True Parents.. the substantial selves of God.. Under True Mother as the victorious representative of the world’s women.. the model of a true mother and true wife and form ideal families through a true love movement." Father

Study his last public speech, Abel Women UN, to understand the ongoing providence. Becomes clear who follows Father's words and who lost faith and turned against them. It's more then clear who is on the way of peace and who is on the way of violence and destruction.

The Image of Intolerant EXTREMISTS

The Logo of UC, that was once filled with meaning of love, unity and harmony... is now being transformed by the Sanctuary Church into one full of aggressive meaning, representing just the opposite; arms, fighting, hate, division and aggression (Cain-side Traits). 

All the evil of the despotic kings in history is on this logo; Sward, Guns and Crown - ALL THE SYMBOLS OF POWER AND DESPOTIC CONTROL. I listen to Sanctuary Church members and I'm shocked how powerful Satan is in reversing good and evil. Debating with them you realize it will take forever with no benefit, just as Dr. Lee depicted the numerous people in the Middle Spirit World. Yes, there is evil in the world, as Sanctuary Church say. But now the evil is Sanctuary Church itself. It's a fact; See Kook Jin talking about killing as  part of their royal tradition. They succumb to this aggressive fallen nature. Brings only pain and sadness to observe them. We know the Principle; Becoming evil is the last thing to stop evil. But most pity, Sanctuary Church are devising ideology around their resentment and fears (obvious even in their comments about this article). Read, HYUNGJIN'S EVIL PROPAGANDA

Their photos compare with the image of Intolerant Extremists of today, or Communists of the past. Always in history, the Cain side was more extreme, fast to grab arms, rebel, fight, accuse and destroy, believing that will bring good.

Communists were arming children, now you see the same in Sanctuary Church. To see whole families and sec.gen. children armed with guns, brings pain to me. There is a reason why TF never took such pictures with us. Of course, his teaching is one of True Love and unification.

But please understand, in the darker realms of the spirit world, there are many of our ancestors suffering without hope, in aggressive atmosphere, seeing dark future, that they should fight with. These are the ancestors searching for return-resurrection now. Sanctuary Church are not to succumb to these feelings, but find the way of hope, love and forgiveness - to be able to liberate them. If not, they will stagnate under the influence of this low spirit world.

Protection in a violent way = Common base with violence. God's way is Love, Service, LFSO. Living in God's love, protection is not needed. Once you give common base with evil, than you enter the endless cycle of needing to protect, fight, survive. A clear sign you went wrong direction. Read, Members who committed the same crimes, ended in hell. How shocking, Hyung Jin is TEACHING EXCUSE OF THESE CRIMES.

Sanctuary Church uses many violent ways. In our neighboring country it killed mother of 4 kids. For few months we were praying about this. SC never apologized or repented for this evil act. They simply enjoy vengeance ... While humanistic UC members, think it is a joke. Think again! I asked the leader. SC associate did it, ignited by Hyung Jin's hate preaching, to the point of feeling that they have to do evil. Exactly like evil spirits.

They do the same in many countries.. attacking.. with no remorse whatsoever. You cannot expect so much hate preaching not to turn into violent actions. They get so pumped up with hatred by Hyung Jin's speeches. Reminds me of the early christian church, when after Sunday Service members would be so furious against the Jews, going, beating and destroying.


EXTERNAL SIGNS OF THEIR DEVIATION

More and more external signs in the Sanctuary's behavior reveal the low level of the spirit world working with them. See all the photos of SC children, holding assault rifles, looking creepy with these crowns, like some fanatic religious cult. Yet, it makes us feel responsible, strive to faster restore the world.

SC: Isolationists Focused on Self-protection
'The Sanctuary Church group live in the woods, focused on protecting the homestead. They seem like isolationists. This alone tells me that they are not one with True Father nor are they following Father's way to save the world. True Mother is going forward with a public mission and a world mission. She is with Father and one in heart with him following the way of True Parents to save the world. She constantly tells us to fulfill Tribal Messiahship and to save and Bless our tribe. The Church of Slander Divided Inside
An insider testimony, shares how Sanctuary Church is a very small group of people around H2 and KJN, full with gossips, even inside. Yeonah (Known for her gossiping videos) plays the role of Inspector General, she said, Controlling and kicking out people in a Communist style. The couple of the self proclaimed Inheritor of God's lineage does not seem as lovely and sinless from close. It's just a matter of time when the criticism-loving people, Hyung Jin attracts, will turn against each other, as in this case.

Sexual Scandal in Sanctuary Church
Yes, Sanctuary Church is more and more dividing inside with many evil vices. We see the videos in Youtube of the nasty accusations between Yeonah Lee​ and one of their prominent gossiping members. The conflict was about interference in the couple's sexual life. Now there is another sexual scandal in Sanctuary Church. It sounds so much like the stories from Hell, described by Dr. Lee. A SC wife talked to a young sec.gen. boy, accusing her spouse for masturbating. The boy told others. At the end everyone got accused; the wife for talking to the young boy, the husband for doing such things, the boy for reporting. Yes mutual accusations and gossips have no end in hell, but why Hyung Jin is teaching them this way? Why his videos are full with such gossips and accusations? What you saw you will reap, the Bible says. So sad, so sad! How to save those people?

We can only cry and pray for the many people misled by negativity, gossips and hate talk. Sanctuary Church only represents a global problem that needs to be restored in this age. Let us take responsibility and uproot these sins within ourselves, instead of accusing.

There is no way to Peace, Peace is the Way... Judging is not! 

Do you know that 93% of human history was wars. Only 7% was peace. Even in their aim to something better, people were judging and waging wars (same like SC). See all the photos of Sanctuary families, even their children, holding assault rifles. In the effort to run away from heir own conscience, they devised a new Cain-type ‘anti-unification’ ideology. This only compares with the image of Intolerant Extremists of today, or Communists of the past. Father clearly said:

If some of Father's descendants resort to guns and conflicts, instead of love, should we follow them? No! We follow the absolute heavenly principles that are the key to Peace:

This is the very reason why "True Parents are our eternal King and Queen of Peace!" Their way of life examines such unifying love. Wherever they went, they brought Peace and Unity. That shows their level of heart is way above 500-600 Hz. They are really connected to God, liberating God. We cannot say that's the case with Hyung Jin. He still needs a lot to grow in his heart, because doubt, fear and resentment are very low heart resonance.

We are in CIG means; Humanity can now enter freely the realm of love and peace (resonance of above 500) and start relating with God. What's stopping many is the fear, doubts, negativity that imprison us in low resonance, under 200. Such low resonance is easily transmitted through Gossiping, Ridiculing others etc.

Our Heart Determines our connection to God or Satan

Dr. David R. Hawkins is the one who made the study on the Resonance of Heart. And he gave these points as very important if we want to reach Peace outside and in ourselves:

- Let go of wanting to 'get even'
- Let go of wanting to be 'right' and make others 'wrong'
- Practice discernment rather than judgementalism

Dr. Hawkins shows how to instantly tell truth from falsehood about anything. And truly, 'muscle testing' clearly shows Hyung Jin is not on the way to Peace. His resonance of judging, labeling, fear from conspiracy etc., are obviously under the level of 200. This is on formation level (Midle sp.w.), under the physical mind (animal level). That's why they feel pleasure in judging, ridiculing others and calling them bad names.

Hyung Jin attracts people with the same low level of heart. With his hate-talk Hyung Jin stirs such a resentment in his followers, that in one country it ended with the death of a mother of 4 kids, attacked by SC resentful members. That reminds us of the past, when hate talk of Catholic priests against the Jews, led to violent attacks on synagogues and Jewish women and children. Is Hyung Jin proud of this? Did he apologize? Did he stop his hate talk? No! He showed no remorse!

SC did not enter the Age of CIG

We live in a historic time, after the coming of CIG. The world needs a Revolution of Heart and Conscience. We have a lot of job. Around 75% of the people are on a level of resonance under 200. SC represents them. For example, Radical Extremists are at resonance of 160. Marxism is at resonance of 130. That's why even Harvard University has resonance of 180, because of socialist-marxist, materialistic influence.

Until 1988 the world was on the level of 190, but after the World Olympics it suddenly jumped to 204. You see how measuring this resonance corresponds to what Father explained and did, to change the world. You can actually understand the Principle much better.

Good Churches are at the level of 300. That's the level of hope and optimism. Such members don't get negative. Of course members are disappointed and complaining, when their own level is way under 200. Observing them you can understand why it is difficult in the Middle spirit world to give hope to people. They are miserable, that's the resonance of their own heart, but they blame it on those who are higher in resonance.

Making character assassination of TM, UC leaders etc. does not cover Hyungjin's evil words and deeds. It just proves that SC are evil manipulators, far from the truth, reversing DP and Father's words. Sad, but SC, are enemies of TF. Sanctuary Church should wake up for that, if they have any conscience left. And of course, no normal person wants his name associated with such evil. Those who associate with him have common base with that (love for gossiping, love for criticism, negative world view).

We are responsible to change the world towards goodness, love and peace. The only way is to grow our own level of heart to that of Love and Peace (500 to 600). People with that level of resonance of heart automatically raise the level of millions other people around. So changing the world is changing ourselves. It starts from inside, not outside.

Spiritual testing of Hyung Jin's level:

With spiritual testing we could calibrate Hyung Jin's resonance of heart at 180. This is the level of conscience of predator animals (170 to 180); feeling pleasure and enjoying in hurting others. But that's his average level. At the chart below, we see that his emotions of blame and desire for vindication, fear and anxiety (seeing conspiracy everywhere) go further down to 100 and below. In his anger and hate he goes to 150. And in his pride he resonates round 175 (full with scorn). Let's realize we all have to clean up our hearts from such low emotions.

Remember Truth is above 200. Under 200 we are dominated by the physical mind (animal nature). Such negative emotions are all toxic for your spirit and body. Hyung Jin's vibration of 180 is the Resonance between fear and pride, still under the level of spiritual development. Or we can say, Old Testament level; "Eye for eye!"

COMMENT: "I speak with SC members daily, and can confirm that their energy level is low. They cannot witness, they only speak within their little circles.. addicted to conspiracy theories, and they have a hard time thinking rationally. They make me tired.

Here we did some further spiritual testing: "Should we follow Hyung Jin?" No! "Is his way of judging and labeling good?" No! "Is Hyung Jin doing something good with his deviation?" No! "Will Sanctuary Church bring anything good in history?" No!

"Is Hyung Jin a true king recognized by God?" No! "Does TF approve of what Hyung Jin is doing now?" No! "Does Hyung Jin understand the responsibility of that position?" No! "Are there historic reasons for his deviation? Yes! Is it from TM's failure? No! Is it from past historic problems - reappearing? Yes!

Hyung Jin teaching against Father

In his video Hyung Jin called Father's tradition of Tithing - Satanic.. and accused the way Father structured our movements as Totalitarian. Yet, blinded by evil spirits SC members don't realize they have become the biggest enemies of Father. They are fulled to believe, they to all this evil from love for Father. But look at Hyung Jin's videos and compare with Father's teachings:

Father - "Tithing is eternal tradition" - Filial heart & Gratitude (resonance of 250)
Hyungjin - "Tithing is Satanic" - Go rebelious and negative (140)

At the end of another sermon HyungJin said that Father gave us the word “I as a owner of CIG.”, and then he makes a mockery of FFWPU pledge, that according to him is to recite “I as a slave of CIG.

Father - "Era of Religion has ended" - FFWPU (resonance of 600)
Hyungjin - "I don't like FFWPU" - Go back to Religion (under 200)

How to develop our Hearts?

The resonance of unconditional love is 570. We are all striving to reach to that level of spiritual development. Definitely, Tribal Messiaship and witnessing are the best and fastest way we grow our hearts. No wonder people with higher Heart Resonance love witnessing. Wherever I go, I naturally meat prepared people, open for the Truth. My high resonance easily attracts and raises the resonance of people I meet.

Why sects, like Sanctuary Church and others who deviated in resentment before them, left witnessing aside. Simply said, their resonance of heart is so low, so they cannot attract anybody, but just other resentful members. As a result, their fallen nature starts rationalizing and creating philosophy excusing their behavior. That's why we see SC arduously trying to reverse Father's words in some very wired and twisted way. But laws are Universal. What they do is obvious!

Hyungjin's Way vs. Father's Way

Father's way was the way of unification; bringing peace and harmony. But Hyung Jin's way is the way of division, bringing resentment and antagonism. SUCH A BIG DIFFERENCE Hyung Jin failed to inherit! In our hearts we so much want to love Hyung Jin. People who are above 200 will feel it.. will help them grow. While people on low level of 180, will drag you down - takes so much time and prayer. In that low resonance they are dominated by evil spirit. Our attempts only bring to contra-attacks. That's not a reason to give up. I appreciate and use that. That's the resurrection process for these spirits. We live in CIG, everyone will be liberated. 

Surely we don't need to spend much time focusing on Sanctuary Church, but definitely we have to be at the level of discernment of true & false, and educate our members, especially the sec.gen. of why judging, resentment, gossiping and spreading hate and division are not our way. Our way is the way of Peace and Unification; Living for the Sake of Others and fulfilling our Tribal Messiah Mission.

Yet I believe that with Repentance, Forgiveness, Gratitude and Love from our side; taking responsibility for what TC made mistakes, as our own, we can heal them. I know, these forces have amazing power! Only love can resolve all problem! Let us learn to resonate with God's highest love and liberate God and TPs! Aju!

Thank you for your letter. I cannot but notice few flaws however, that bother me in Hyung Jin and his heretical teachings. For me it's obvious that he is using Mother as excuse of himself deviating completely from Father's teachings.

As Mrs. Kang told Sanctuary Church, "Everything Father was doing was to unite humanity". But everything we see Hyung Jin doing is dividing and accusing the very organizations Father created to achieve that world unity. How huge sin is H2 committing:

FLAWS, that BOTHER ME in Hyung Jin:
(1) Very different from the early church. NO WITNESSING 
(2) H2 has very different teachings from Father. AGAINST FATHER
(3) Hyung Jin's sermons are all about GOSSIPS & ACCUSATIONS
(5) Teaches to DESTROY TRUE PARENTS
(7) Bringing DIVISION, DISUNITY, ANTAGONISM

Mother is not to blame for Hyung Jin hate-speech and deviations from Father's teachings. No one in Family Fed is changing anything.. traditions and believes stay the same, but Sanctuary Church sounds and acts in ways that have nearly nothing in common with what Father created and taught us. 

(1) SC is very different from the early church. Early church was so much about Witnessing, everyone was mobilized, but Hyung Jin does no witnessing at all. Impossible! He talks all the time negativity against the Church, so who will come join - only negative members will. That's not witnessing - that's Multiplication of Evil.

Mrs. Kang also told Sanctuary Church, "Pioneering is a very difficult process". Yet, Sanctuary Church not only is not witnessing, but accuses vigorously all Family Fed. members who pioneer and witness so hard. Mrs. Kang even told them, "If you try to do it without God, it won't work", so it's obvious that God is on Mother's side, the side of Family Federation, while Sanctuary Church is out of God's grace. Looking at the fruits we cannot deny that God's Blessing is with the Family Federation.

Family Federation now has incredible Tribal Messiahship results - even beyond the early church spirit. A sister just came back from Philippians, she witnessed and blessed around 600 couples. Another European couple also could reach 900 couples. Not like in the past, these couples get educated and do proper 3 day ceremony.

Thousands of Family Federation members invest their hearts like that. It's CIG now! Everything is possible, but Sanctuary Church are stack in the past, feeding on negativism, fears and accusations. Hyung Jin is calling Father's organization 'Family Fraud', and its hard working witnessing members, "weak and cowards". Are they! REALLY

COMPARISON:
Sanctuary Church - No Witnessing, No Interreligious work - 1 incidental guest in years
Family Federation - Thousands of guests witnessed a day. Numerous World Projects

Even in Europe, witnessing with Second Generation, we had around 30 guests a day in each of our centers, spreading in several cities. Amazing results! Guests get so inspired; Hundreds of Second Gen. learning DP, lecturing and investing their hearts with such a enthusiasm. Wonderful! That's True Father's spirit and tradition, not SC stagnation on negativism.

(2) Hyung Jin has very different teachings from Father. Despite his pretensions to love Father, he exhibits irreconcilable conflict with everything Father said and created. That's even more a problem. To excuse his resentments, he is changing the theology and tradition, even denying True Parents (Divorcing them after Father's death). That's unthinkable! Read, Hyungjin: "If I deny True Parents you must not follow me"

Yes, Hyung Jin is using Mother as excuse of himself deviating from Father's teachings :BUT I DON'T SEE anything in his heretical teachings that is connected to Father. Instead I hear Hyung Jin directly calling Father's traditions and organizations "Satanic". So H2 should be sincere enough, that HE HATES FATHER, which is obvious from his teaching, that Father failed like Jesus.

In his video sermons Hyung Jin says Father's tradition of tithing is 'Satanic' and calls Family Pledge 'enslaving', ridiculing Family Fed., it's members, leaders and lecturers. That's against True Father! That's evil! How can Hyung Jin generalize? So many of these members and leaders sacrifice so much. Hyung Jin actually reverses DP upside down.. even comparing Father's Palace to Satan's Realm, where he suffered for 40 yrs. Ha.. ha! Insane!

QUESTION: How do Sanctuary Church excuse Hyung Jin calling Father's tradition 'satanic'? How he dares calling Father's organizations 'Fraud'? See Sanctuary Church video with Mrs. Kang: After her nice talk about unification, pioneering and hard work, Hyung Jin started his usual hate-speech, feeding the audience with fear, calling Family Fed, "bozos" (meaning: "stupid or insignificant"). He thinks such hate talk is normal in CIG. But truth is fear leads to Hell. This is satanic manipulative method, never used by the good sp.w.

(3) Hyung Jin's sermons are all about gossips, negativity, fear, accusations... Yes, gossiping people enjoy that. Yes, they feel uplifted, because the same evil spirit already invaded them. But for us, normal members, this is simply Fallen Nature - that's not their original true self.

(4) I studied the story of all major members following Hyung Jin. They all have unresolved resentments, result of their own spiritual failures, that they choose to blame on 'leaders'.. or 'the family fed'. All a more prove of their own failure. Read, Reflection "Why Sanctuary Church is Wrong!"

(5) One thing that Satan wants the most is to DESTROY TRUE PARENTS. But why Hyung Jin united with that evil cause? Read, Unresolved resentments - Trapped Emotions. Sorry Hyung Jin, as you've said in the past "TPs are eternal"!

Father's love for Mother is eternal and unchanging. It's the core of Father's teaching that, "We live for those we love. We would not exchange them for the whole world. Love is absolute, unique, eternal and unchanging." (CSG p.572)

Gossip is toxic to any organization... it shuts down trust... it's a Malicious spread of rumors with an evil intend to ruin persons life, with no remorse. Read...

Of course, Hyung Jin is using Gossiping with intention to destroy Mother's image.... this way he and Sanctuary Church have become like evil spirits. Not their Original Nature - again!

(6) I am a spiritualist. I see how clever these lying spirits are. They fool him, that he should destroy True Parents; that his couple are greater; to proclaim himself a new center and replace them. Oh, they have millions of ways to twist the logic in that direction. Father warned that no future generation Moon should do that. Hyung Jin is just an example of a victim of those evil spirits.

The Sanctuary Church (SC).. is best understood as a schismatic movement... A schismatic is a person who creates or incites schism in an organization..

Sanctuary Church, formally the “World Peace and Unification Sanctuary,” claims that the wider UC movement has deviated from the teachings and practice of TF and that its purpose is to preserve and propagate his teaching.

The SC schism was several years in the making.

In 2013, SC Pastor Hyung Jin, then International President of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, refused the request of his mother, to take up duties under her in Korea. Instead, he relocated to the “wilderness” of Newfoundland, Pennsylvania, where he began an independent ministry. He was supported by his elder brother, Kook Jin, who relocated Kahr Arms, which he heads, to nearby Pike County. Together, they purchased a church facility in 2014 and began the SC ministry.

Initially, SC uplifted gifts of grace and the Holy Spirit. Later, a “wilderness” mentality took hold and sermons turned apocalyptic. Hyung Jin castigated “predatory elites” and “postmodern” thinking, gave credence to “truther” claims about the Twin Tower attacks, and emphasized prophetic speculation about Shmita year cycles and Blood Moon Tetrads. Then, in a series of sermons, beginning January 18, 2015, he broke decisively with FF.

His epiphany was that the “predatory system of control… in the world at large” also was occurring in FF. Based on this understanding, he directed UC members to resign from FF organizations. In a subsequent “Declaration of Heaven,” he announced the removal of all current leaders of the Unification Movement, declaring they had “no authority.” He called on members to take over church boards and elect replacements.

In March 2015, FFWPU removed Hyung Jin as International President.

This radicalized his position. Previously, he called for the “liberation” of his mother from “archangels” surrounding her. Afterwards, he attacked her directly. He declared her “authority and power” to be “stripped away and removed.” He announced her displacement as “True Mother” and conducted a ceremony transferring that position to his wife. He declared his mother was “seduced” by archangels, and in an unfortunate phrase, referred to her as the “Whore of Babylon.”

Along with these pronouncements, Hyung Jin declared all “Holy Blessings” conducted since Rev. Moon’s passing to be invalid and began conducting “restorational” blessings. He declared “ancestor liberation” ceremonies under the auspices of FF were corrupt and announced he would liberate member’s ancestors to the 210th generation. He denounced the governing structure of FF’s “Cheon Il Guk Constitution,” and substituted “The Constitution of the United States of Cheon Il Guk” which identified him, and his male heirs, as temporal monarchs.

The Sanctuary Church has been disruptive due to its ongoing attacks and efforts to poach members from the wider movement. It gained a fervent following, established branch churches, and aggressively marketed itself on social media. The remainder of this article offers a cursory sketch of SC beliefs and future prospects.

SC Beliefs

SC shares many beliefs and texts with FF. This section outlines core beliefs that depart from or have been defined in opposition to FF.

God. In opposition to Mother’s admonition that members pray to their “Heavenly Parent,” implying that Unificationists image God as mother as well as father, SC affirms a wholly patriarchal deity. God, they insist, is in the masculine “subject” position.

True Parents. According to Hyung Jin, True Parents “are equal in love and in value… but in authority that is a different matter. There is an order. There is a hierarchy in True Parents.” As he expressed it, “In TPs, there is an absolute subject and king.” That is TF. TM is in a feminine “object” position not only to her husband but also to his male seed.

Bridegroom theology. Hyung Jin Moon teaches that it would have been best if Father Moon, as Messiah and King of Kings, had taken “all the women of this world and be their spouse and to have children from every single one.” This, he said, was the “quickest way” to kill off Satan’s lineage.

Scripture. SC denies that Father Moon’s teachings, specifically his “last words” to humankind in the form of “Eight Great Textbooks,” can be edited or altered in any way. SC applies its doctrine of textual literalism primarily to the 2,500-page Cheong Seong Gyeong, or “Heavenly Scripture,” which includes excerpts of Father Moon’s sermons arranged thematically.

Succession. SC takes the position that Hyung Jin has “inherited the full authority of the True Parents on earth.” As such, he has the right to proclaim himself the “second King” of Cheon Il Guk (the Unification equivalent of the Kingdom of God on earth), announce that his wife was now fulfilling the role of True Mother, and conduct a ceremony in which his wife bowed before one of his sons designated as the “third King,” thereby solidifying the ongoing subordination of mother to son.

Eschatology. Hyung Jin Moon views the current situation as a “time of warning” and “time of desecration.” In his view, “postmodern, humanistic, secular feminist ideology” dominates the world and FFWPU. SC upholds catastrophic biblical predictions as prophetic warnings to America and is quick to cite “signs of the end” such as a MERS outbreak in South Korea which temporarily shut down a FFWPU workshop site. SC is suspicious of multinational corporations, central bankers, politicians, and elites in general. It embraces a vision of the ideal that attempts to link dynastic monarchism with libertarian values.

Future Prospects

SC’s future is indeterminate, especially at this stage. Its conflict with FFWPU is asymmetrical. SC possesses only a small fraction of FFWPU’s membership and resources. It has promoted itself on social media to look outsized. However, vocalness should not be confused with size or influence. So far, SC has limited itself to poaching members from the wider movement. As such, it tends to resemble any number of splinter groups, particularly those that have broken off from large U.S. sects, such as the Latter Day Saints or Seventh Day Adventists. SC, as a movement, has little meaningful contact with the “outside” world, seeing itself in a cosmic struggle against “predatory elites” and pretenders who have captured the wider society and their church.

At the same time, it would be a mistake for FFWPU to minimize or dismiss SC out of hand. Hyung Jin Moon was FFWPU International President. More than that, he was “crowned” on several occasions by Father and Mother Moon. He and his wife were designated as their “inheritors” and “representatives.” Kook Jin Moon headed Tongil Group, FFWPU’s corporate conglomerate in Korea and controlled the distribution of monies to the wider movement. In addition, SC has won several FFWPU leaders including a former national leader of Japan, the former president of Unification Theological Seminary and a former chair couple of the U.S. Blessed Family Department. To this point, SC’s demonization of FFWPU and adoption of countermeasures show no sign of abating.

The particulars of the SC/FFWPU conflict are unique but the “schismatic dynamic” it embodies is not without precedent in the history of religion. The following are five trajectories this dynamic can take or has taken:

1. Subjugation. The subjugation trajectory is a classic zero-sum or “win-lose” model, i.e., either the schismatic organization subjugates the founding organization or the founding organization subjugates the schismatic organization. However, there are few, if any, examples of schismatic groups (SOs) subjugating founding organizations (FOs). Some have absconded with property or funds. Most have simply departed or, like SC, gone into a real or symbolic wilderness exile. FOs, on occasion, have succeeded in persecuting SOs out of existence but rarely in winning them back into the fold.
2. Absorption/Re-absorption. The absorption/re-absorption trajectory is a variation of the subjugation model. It posits that in the longer term the schismatic organization will absorb the founding organization or the founding organization will re-absorb the schismatic organization. Again, there are few, if any, examples of SOs absorbing FOs. This is the case even when SOs eclipse FOs in vigor and scope. Christianity began as a SO within Judaism and eventually outdistanced it. However, Christianity never absorbed Judaism despite continuing efforts to “convert” the Jews. Neither did Judaism succeed in re-absorbing the sect of the Nazarene.
3. Conflagration SOs sometimes self-destruct in violent conflagrations. Sociologists of religion have identified factors leading to these apocalypses such as charismatic leadership, claims to absolute authority, us-versus-them messages, control of an encampment, sexual abuse, positive views on the use of force, and access to or stockpiling of weapons. This end-game is not common but SO adherents cannot be naïve as to this possibility, however small.
4. Continuation. The most likely scenario from a history of religion perspective is that SOs persist as permanent schisms. If unsuccessful, SOs typically either go out of existence or re-create themselves in new forms. Anabaptists became Mennonites. Millerites morphed into the Seventh Day Adventist Church. They just as commonly splinter into new SOs, often for the same or similar reasons that prompted the original SO/FO split. Factionalism, politely called denominationalism, characterizes Christianity not less than rival schools or guru lineages in other traditions.
5. Reconciliation. This is the optimal model going forward and the one most closely aligned with authentic Unificationism. Unfortunately, it is the least common. The modern ecumenical movement within Christianity, of which the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity (HSA-UWC) partakes, might be an exception but its progress has been spotty. This is ironic since confession, repentance, forgiveness, love, and restitution are at the core of most religious traditions. Yet intra-religious conflicts are among the world’s most intractable.

Religious movements are born in primal innocence and grow up in worlds of infinite possibility. As possibilities constrict, there is a tendency to rebel and seek to create new systems of primal innocence and infinite possibility. Unfortunately, fomenting schism is like eating the forbidden fruit. The primal innocence and infinite possibilities promised are illusory and new SOs spawn new schisms. This is the very dynamic that Unificationism exists to reverse.♦
